Art Director @ BYJUS

I joined Byjus as a 2d artist and moved up the ladder to a Senior artist within 6 months. After proving my worth, I was assigned as Art Lead for Learn With English, which was positioned to be a stand-alone app that teaches english in the rural parts of India.

The first step was to decide on a fresh easy-to-replicate art-style and create a style guide. Over a week, I worked with my team of artists to develop samples for all types of assets that would be developed.

Made a compilation of different props and how the time of day affects the palette. Also made a step-by-step process on how to replicate the style. This ensured any new addition to the team will be able to get used to the production process.

Ideated with graphic designers and content team to create an easily readable UI for the kids to interact with.

A general value and color hierarchy to make sure the UI is the most eye catching objects on the screen, over the rest of the elements.

After the style guide was prepared, the next step for world building. To start, we had 3 recurring sets that most of the lessons will be based in.

The students help a detective solve mysteries and learn in the process.

In the next world, the students mainly interact with 2 kids around their age to save the environment and organize events in their school and town.

In the 3rd world, the students interact with 2 scientists and learn through experimentation and inquisition. One's a kind and friendly scientist while the other is a bit crazy and whacky, so that we can cover a wide range of grounded and out-there topics.

These characters are reporters and news anchors that usually appear at the end of lessons to show the students how their actions have impacted society for the better.
