PFP projects are a core part of NFT culture, and I was hired to create the art for a couple of these teams. This 10k collection is for the MahaDAO team that wanted to reward their community.
PFPs are a unique design challenge since the NFTs themselves are randomly generated from a set of asset layers. This particular project had 14 layers that were working in the background to make a cohesive PFP.

Certain traits are rarer than others and this makes a few in the collection more desirable than the rest.
Some NFTs in the collection are handcrafted 1/1s and are the rarest.
The client wanted a style inspired by the Indian Patachitra art. After the initial exploration, it was decided to go with a more toned down version of it be able to play with expressions more.
Once the base style was locked in, the next step was expression and trait exploration to quickly test if we could achieve good variety.
The next PFP project had signficantly harder time constraint since this collection had to be made within a week, along with logo and social media illustrations. This collection had much lower variety and size by design.
